BHS awards prestigious Fellowship qualification to two successful candidates
The prestigious title of Fellow of The British Horse Society has been awarded to Nick Gauntlett and Danny Anholt, following two gruelling days of assessment.
Nick becomes a BHS Fellow (Eventing) and Danny a BHS Fellow (General). They join 78 BHS Fellows since the qualification was initiated in 1949. The Fellowship is the highest recognition of professional standards across the equine industry and is respected across the world.
The exam takes place across two days and candidates are assessed on coaching skills, practical demonstrations, theoretical knowledge, stable management and the history of equitation.
Nick currently runs his own equestrian business, Chescombe Eventing, based in Gloucestershire, while Danny is Director of Equestrian Sports at Millfield School. He said: “I feel very proud and honoured to become a Fellow of The British Horse Society. There are fewer than 80 people worldwide who hold the qualification and it represents the fruits of a lifetime’s work, culminating in two of the most gruelling examination days imaginable!
“As an equestrian coach it means a lot to have one’s experience and skills recognised in the highest equestrian qualification worldwide. I hold the whole Millfield Equestrian team partially responsible for the result as they are the most hard-working, dedicated and supportive group of people I have ever worked with.”
The British Horse Society and The Fellows and Instructors Association congratulate them both on becoming Fellows and wish them every success for the future.
